We're Going to Hawaii!
Our family has been counting down the days until we board that plane. From researching kid-friendly beaches to packing strategies for a long flight with a little one, the anticipation is half the fun. I'll be sharing our itinerary, what made the cut in our suitcases, and how we're preparing our daughter for the adventure.
Stay tuned for updates from the islands — sunscreen, sand, and plenty of memories ahead.
Traveling with Children
After a few years of navigating airports, road trips, and restaurant dinners with a child in tow, I've picked up a handful of strategies that actually work. Here are a few favorites:
- Pack a dedicated "surprise bag" of small toys and snacks — novelty keeps little hands busy longer than you'd expect.
- Embrace the mid-day hotel break. A quick swim or quiet hour back at the room resets everyone's mood.
- Choose crossbody bags and backpacks over shoulder totes. Hands-free is the only way to go when you're managing a stroller and a toddler.
- Lower expectations and leave room for spontaneity. The best moments often come from the unplanned detours.
Why We Travel as a Family
Some of my favorite memories with my husband and daughter have happened far from home — chasing waves on a beach, sharing a messy ice cream cone on a park bench, or simply watching the world go by from a hotel balcony. Travel strips away the daily routine and reminds us how much we enjoy each other's company.
It's not always easy, and not every trip goes smoothly. But the stories we bring back — the ones we laugh about years later — are worth every hiccup along the way.
